Our experience with Motor Werks in Barrington has been extremely disappointing. Our 2019 INFINITI QX50 was picked up by their team for a recall inspection and an oil change. When the vehicle left our home, there was no check engine light on the vehicle. After Motor Werks completed the service and returned the car, it was parked and not driven. The next time the vehicle was started, the check engine light immediately came on. We contacted Motor Werks and were told they needed $275 just to diagnose the issue because they knew they brought back my car with a check engine light on. After pushing back, they agreed to waive the diagnostic and determined the cause was a failed EVAP vent control valve. We were then quoted $688 to repair it, and told it was unrelated to the work they performed. The biggest issue here is the timing. The car was delivered to Motor Werks with no check engine light, and it was returned with a check engine light on. Despite acknowledging our concerns about the timing, the only “goodwill” assistance management offered was $50 — which doesn’t even cover the gas spent driving back and forth to Barrington to deal with this issue. For a dealership that promotes itself as a premium service provider, the lack of accountability and willingness to work toward a reasonable resolution was extremely disappointing. What makes this even more frustrating is that our family has brought significant business to Motor Werks over the years. Four different family members purchased vehicles through this dealership based on our recommendations. After sharing this experience, we all agreed that we will not be doing business with Motor Werks again. Customer loyalty clearly doesn’t mean much here. This situation could have been resolved with a reasonable goodwill effort, but instead Motor Werks chose to stand behind a $50 gesture on a $688 repair that appeared immediately after their service visit. Very disappointing experience and not what we expected from this dealership.
