Infiniti Teases Enthusiasts with New EV Concept

If there's one thing at which luxury auto brand Infiniti excels, it's keeping us on our toes. Take right now, for example. 2012 North American Auto Show is taking place in Detroit, but instead of the auto manufacturer displaying its fabled new electric sports car at this show, its making us wait until next month, when the Geneva Motor Show takes place. Infiniti was available in Detroit to distribute teaser photos of the vehicle to reports and to take a few questions before the official debut next month.

Though few details were given out about the vehicle, Motor Werks Infiniti of Barrington can tell you that Infiniti is calling it a range-extended electric sports car. It has no proper name as of yet.  Despite the fact that it's an electric vehicle, we might see the sports car based more on performance than fuel economy. Infiniti describes the vehicle as such: "The sports-car concept will be the first Infiniti to have not only a range-extender drivetrain, but also one mounted in a mid-ship package for optimal weight distribution and therefore handling."1

Infiniti also told reporters that this new vehicle will offer  "a change in vocabulary for Infiniti's design language," and continued, "The purpose of the Geneva concept is to explore what might be the next stage in how to deliver a vivid, engaging and sophisticated driving experience from an electrically propelled vehicle".2
