When Infiniti premiered the Sebastian Vettel edition of the already popular 2012 Infiniti FX50 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, everyone had one question: When is it going into production? Unfortunately, the answer appeared to be never, as the model was noted as being the most power and exclusive Infiniti ever made. And by exclusive, the Japanese luxury automaker meant that it was built for one driver, and one driver only: Red Bull championship driver, Sebastian Vettel.

It seems, however, that the high demand that has emanated from the collective Infiniti fan base cannot be ignored, as Infiniti has recently made the decision to move the FX Sebastian Vettel Edition into production. That's the good news. The bad news? It might not be heading for the U.S. shores!

Infiniti cites a lack of Formula One interest from the American public as the main reason behind their potential decision to not bring the performance-driven model to the U.S., but we think that you don't have to be a Formula One fan to enjoy this vehicle's 5.0-liter V8 engine. It is, after all, just like the one found in the FX50S Premium, with the exception that it dishes out an extra 32-hp for a total of 414 horsepower.

Other improvements in the Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Edition are seen in vehicle weight, which has been reduced by 101 pounds to a total of 4,517, and in the new stiffer springs and re-rated dampers, which promise to add tighter handling. All of these upgrades were added to the Infiniti FX50 in regards to feedback that Sebastian Vettel offered to the automaker on his own Infiniti FX50 during development.

Hopefully we'll hear word from Infiniti soon on whether or not they plan to release the FX Sebastian Vettel Edition in the U.S. market.
