Infiniti to Relocate Headquarters to China

As part of the Japanese automaker's six-year plan to lift global sales, Infiniti has just announced plans to relocate headquarters for its global operations to Hong Kong. One major department making the move is marketing communications and some 100 other employees who will report back to the main headquarters in Yokohama Japan.

It may seem like an odd choice for a Japanese company to move their headquarters all the way to China, but in the global auto market, it actually makes perfect sense. China is a huge player for luxury automakers, and the demand for such cars in China continues to grow every year.

With this move, Infiniti hopes to get a larger market hold by being able to more effectively serve clients and consumers. According to Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President of Infiniti's parent company, "We see an opportunity to reinforce Asian hospitality within the Infiniti brand, distinct from both Nissan and out facing luxury competitors. We are proud to be the only automaker that will call Hong Kong home."1 He also added that selecting Hong Kong as their corporate center supports Infiniti as it grows throughout the global luxury markets of North America, Europe, China and South East Asia, and this will help them better serve those key markets.

Infiniti has yet to release details about the date of the move and how it will affect the global headquarters in Japan. We're sure they'll be on their way shortly, and if you stayed tuned with Motor Werks Infiniti of Barrington, as we promise to keep you up-to-date on all of the latest news from Infiniti.
